comparing homework
I used this poster advertising healthy eating for children as my first comparison as they have lots in common, language and let out wise . The fist obvious similarity is that they're both aimed at helping children in some way, even if its to cure their boredom or improve their diets. Both texts are also clearly aimed for children and parents of young children as the graphological features used are colourful and eye catching and something that would clearly stand out to a younger audience or parents of young children. Also the lexis used in both texts can also been seen as childish, for example, "wild-time challenge" and the use of "11 3/4" this is used as the title makes it sound exciting and intriguing for children, the fact it is described as a 'challenge' makes the concept more exciting as well. The use of "113/4"relates it to children as this is a childish thing to say, when you're younger age is really important. The lexis used in the text (although there is not much) about healthy eating is also aimed at children as the use of colours when it says "don't eat this"is black and "eat this" is green, when you're younger you relate good and bad this to certain colours therefore children will understand in a way that makes sense to them personally. Although there is more text on the national trust text they're still similar as the language used is informal and simple, for example, they do not use complex or difficult words and both would be moderately easy for children to understand(although the healthy eating would be easier and more straight forward for children). Both texts are straight forward and get to the point straight away, you almost immediately know what both texts are about just from looking at them. Although there are some similarities there are also difference, for example the National trust text is more aimed at parents of children as there is more text and the font used is occasionally quite small and might be a tad to complex for children of a young age whereas the healthy eating text is so simple and straight forward that even younger children will be able to understand. Another difference is that the healthy eating is to inform where as the national trust one is to help parents with bored children.
The hobbit
This is a poster advertising the new hobbit film. Although there is limited text, it is still an effective way of advertising as it doesn't give away anything about the film, so people are more intrigued as to what happens. The only thing that is shown about the film is the main characters and the name of the film itself. The text used for the title is also effective as it is bold and bright against the dark background, therefore eye catching for the audience. I believe that it is amide at people of all ages as it doesn't have any technical language however it doesn't use any bright colours and this could be because it is not amide for younger children as the story wont appeal to them anyway.
